Pakistan has endorsed China’s claim that it played a mediating role during the May 2025 India-Pakistan conflict that culminated in Operation Sindoor. At a press briefing, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Chinese leaders were in constant touch with Pakistan’s leadership and had also made contacts with Indian leaders between May 6 and May 10, and possibly before and after that period. Andrabi said these diplomatic engagements helped reduce tensions and promote peace and security in the region, backing Beijing’s characterisation of its role as mediation. China had earlier claimed it mediated in the India-Pakistan conflict, with Foreign Minister Wang Yi citing it as part of Beijing’s broader approach to resolving global conflicts. India, however, has firmly rejected these claims, maintaining that there was no third-party mediation, with media reports quoting official government sources to underline New Delhi’s position.
