The majority of the people attending dress up and there are often cruise ships in port which add to the numbers attending. We did meet one woman that has been at every festival since it began and she comes from USA each year. Although it did take a bit of a hit with Covid and the Hawkes Bay Cyclone it has managed to recover quite well based on last years attendance. We also spoke to one woman who was a child when the 1931 earthquake happened. Some of the Vintage cars are also pre earthquake that were in Napier at the time of the quake.
