These old style ratchet axle stands I have had for years that said I avoid using them at all costs as my straight through pin style axle stands are far safer.
Things have changed lately as I require stands that will match my wooden blocks to raise my vehicle high enough for certain jobs.
With that in mind I decided to make them safer with a safety pin to prevent accidental safety arm failure and strength welding including a steel rod brace.
