Let's have a look at the MiG 1.44, and see how it fares against its real life counterpart.

Its design in the 1st game, is boss, but inaccurate; the devs might not have had no access to the required information on it; in Strike, however, it looks like the real thing.

...but how about graphics? A few thing have been upgraded over the 1st game on Dreamcast, and some others downgraded when compared to it.

Things that look better in AFD:Strike?
Missile trails.
Explosions.
Shading on models is smoother.
Cloud sprites (new effect).
Sun/moon shine over the ocean.
Weather effects.
Higher poly Jet models (depending on wich one)



Things that still looks better in AFD1.
Textures for assets and scenery (higher resolution, more colour information and more detailed, for the most part).
Colour palette is richer.
Techniqe used to render the sun is so much nicer.
Draw distance (fogging can be quite aggressive in AFD3 depending on stage).
Environment map reflection on aircraft canopies (effect has been removed in AFD3).
When you blow up an enemy target (they leave a nice smoke trail behind)



Stuff that stayed the same.
High polygon jet models, for enemy targets (in Ace Combat 5 and Zero, for example; enemy targets are of much lower quality than the player's model)
Highly detailed textures for both player jets and enemy targets.
Jet's textures on PlayStation 2 are of the same resolution as in the original on Dreamcast.


IMPORTANT NOTE; this jet, in real life, only flew for the first time in the year 2000; the first game came out in 1999; it's understandable why the design is not accurate.
