Less than 1% of private home transactions in Singapore use 99-to-1 arrangement

Singapore's tax authority has seen a small but rising number of split private home ownership arrangements in recent years. Of all the private properties transacted from 2018 to 2021, there were about 0.5% of such cases. Real estate agencies said that's about one out of 200 homes sold during that period. The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore said it's looking to audit 99 to 1 arrangements to ensure home buyers fulfil their stamp duty obligations and to uncover any tax avoidance.
