Muir Woods: Canopy View, Lost, Creek & Hillside Trails Loop

Muir Woods is just far enough to not be on the hike rotation so I always end up going with other folks and just showing them the easy loop.

But it's a pleasure to visit since they instituted a reservation system, so since I had to go to Oakland in the morning of Labor Day I decided to reserve a parking spot and do something a bit more involved.

And since I was still hurting from my longer hike a couple days before (not yet uploaded as of this writing) I didn't go for something much more involved. Longer loop that goes higher up and then go further down the creek than most of the tourists do.

While it was an overall pleasant experience I couldn't but be a bit concerned about the obvious erosion that the crowds have caused along the hillside trail through the years. At some point those trails above the bottom loop are going to need major maintenance.

The whole trail was tree cover so there wasn't much in the way of views but I do like it this way, next time I'll try for a longer loop making it up to where the views are.
