Описание к видео Tilia - Lime tree - Seeds - Linditré - Skógartré - Garðtré

Small leaved Lime - Tilia cordata - Hjartalind - Linditré - Lind - Garðtré - Seeds is hard cased on wing like leaf.

Lesa meira: https://is.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linditr...

In Britain, it is considered an indicator of ancient woodland, and is becoming increasingly rare. Because of this rarity a number of woods have been given SSSI status. One such site is Shrawley Wood in Worcestershire.

The small yellow-green hermaphrodite flowers are produced in clusters of five to eleven in early summer with a leafy yellow-green subtending bract, have a rich, heavy scent; the trees are much visited by bees. The fruit is a dry nut-like drupe 6--7 mm long by 4 mm broad (infertile fruits are globose), downy at first becoming smooth at maturity, and (unlike T. platyphyllos) not ribbed. The Linden honey is considered to be valuable in both nutritional and medical aspects. : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilia_co...

Tilia cordata (the small-leaved lime) is a British native found growing as far north as Durham. It is also found in a wide area across much of Europe and is the national tree of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The leaves have tufts of little red-brown hairs in the vein axils on the undersides of the leaf, but the top of the leaf is smooth. The large-leaved lime (T. platyphyllos) is a much rarer British native with larger leaves and hairs on both surfaces, but the downy undersides feel velvety to the touch. There is a red-twigged form called 'Rubra' which is also attractive in winter -- although it is not as striking as 'Winter Orange'. The common lime or European lime (T. x europaea) is a vigorous hybrid between the two and this is the tree most often seen in parkland. The longest lime avenue in Europe is found at the National Trust's Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire. The two-mile-long double avenue, which was planted in 1840, contains 1,296 common limes. Black grease bands were painted around each tree in 1906 and these can still be seen today. This 17th-century introduction came from Holland and it nearly always produces suckers. The leaves often suffer from aphid attack and the honeydew (the waste product of the aphid) covers anything underneath with a sticky layer. Sooty mould can follow. Other limes are less susceptible. : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/...

Sweet-smelling clusters of yellow flowers appear in July attracting bees. Small, smooth fruits are also produced and their lack of hairs and ribbing make them easy to distinguish from other limes.

Peat bogs, where matter decays very slowly and pollen is sometimes preserved completely intact, can provide us with a lot of information about the sort of vegetation that existed in the British Isles after the last Ice Age, about 10,000 years ago. As small as they are, pollen grains differ greatly from species to species and so it is possible to be sure that Tilia cordata, or the small-leaved lime, has been present in our forests since at least this time. It is also widespread across Europe and is the national tree of both the Czech Republic and Slovenia. The prevalence of this native deciduous tree has declined dramatically in the last few thousand years and this appears mainly to be due to its appetising nature. Grazing animals were probably let loose into the forests and seedlings were eaten, never to be replaced. Although still present in certain parts of the country, the small-leaved lime now plays second fiddle to its hybrid offspring, the common or European lime (Tilia x europaea). The wood of the lime tree is soft and even-grained which makes it ideal for carving. The most famous carver to have used lime was Grinling Gibbons, who worked with Sir Christopher Wren on St Paul's Cathedral. Wren subsequently introduced him to King Charles II and an example of his work is still in the dining room at Windsor Castle to this day. He was later the master carver to King George I. As well, as being used for carving, lime wood is perfect for musical instruments as it does not warp. As a result, it is still used for piano and organ keys. :
