. Gina H. Curry is an advocate for children and social justice issues with over 20 years of experience working with youth and families on both the collegiate level and in practice. She studied and earned
both her bachelors and masters degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Continuing to stay current in the field by bringing research and practical experiences into the classroom, Gina also worked as a teaching assistant while earning her Master’s
degree, which ultimately attracted her to the discipline of Education. Working in the field after school was a goal in the areas of Law Enforcement, Behavioral Health and Education.

For the past decade, her main focus has been on transitioning into an entrepreneur and social advocate for change through the economic development and operations of Curry Real Estate Group, LLC. She continues to increase her knowledge of the necessity for community participation, the impact of school discipline and positive behavioral practices through advocacy against the ‘school to prison’ pipeline. She and her husband, Ralphal ‘Rap’ Curry decided to raise their family in the District 14 years ago and now
their 3 children have all experienced the positive impact of “UD pride”. Born into a family of educators, Gina grew up with a passion and understanding of the value of a public education and the importance of keeping the standards of public education sacred for all students. Her desire for secure learning environments, effective problem solving and positive promotion of student character development, achievement and access, have all been instrumental in her drive to pursue her current work to fight for the students in the Upper Darby School District as a current candidate for School Board Director.
