The CLSU Maestro-Singers of the Central Luzon State University, College of Education, was organized in 1998 by Dr. Florante P. Ibarra. Serving as CLSU’s ambassador of goodwill, the group had won numerous awards in local and national levels. After merely four years of existence, the Singers have gained a lot in terms of competition awards enough to say that they are successful in earning fame in the local and national regions. They have placed the Central Luzon State University on top position by winning the top prize in the 2002 Literary Musical First National Finals and in the Regional Choral Competition after having declared CHAMPION for four consecutive years in the Development Council for State Universities and Colleges (DCSUC) Literary Musical Festival from 1999-2003 (Regional Level). With their equipped talents, the group produced three National Awardees in Vocal Solo (2004 and 2007).

The group holds regular concerts for CLSU community as well as community services outside the university. One of their major concerts was in collaboration with the Department of Education – Division Office of Nueva Ecija (2000-2002); Philippine Senate( 2000); University of the Philippines College of Music (2000 & 2001); One of their significant performances was a “Concert for a Cause” for the benefit of a public school teacher who suffered from bone cancer. The group had also performed with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (2002 & 2004).

For more than a decade, the group consistently maintained their position as top if not champion in choral competition in Region III. In 2007 and 2009, the group won 2 First Place awards in the Regional Literary-Musical Competitions. This paved their way to their first international cultural exchange concert in Thailand in July 2007. The CLSU Maestro Singers are on their way to attain their goals like setting standards of excellence in choral singing, developing communities’ appreciation for choral music, establishing the CLSU as an active and respected university in choral competitions.

Recently, the group won Gold Prize in the Open Category and Silver Prize for Sacred Music Category at the 4th Macau International Choir Festival and Competition also two Gold Awards both Sacred and Open Mixed Categories at the 11th Orientale Concentus International Choral Festival held on July 1-4, 2018 at School of the Arts, Singapore; the group was likewise awarded 1st runner up in the 2017 National PASUC Culture and Arts Festival held at Siliman University, Dumaguete City; ; likewise, they garnered two gold medals in the Folkloric Category and two silver medals in the Mixed Category during the 4th Winter Choral Competition held at Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong (December, 2013) and 1st Sing n’ Joy Manila International Choral Festival (December, 2013) respectively.

CLSU Singers continuously participated in successive Angeles Choral Festivals: 2014 with UP Madrigal Singers featuring the works of Eudenice Palaruan; 2015 with UST Singers featuring the works of Bing Pablico, 2016 with Ateneo Chamber Singers featuring the works of Jed Balsamo, and 2017 with Western Visayas Choral featuring the works of Joy Nilo. In December 2016, the CLSU Maestro-Singers together with the UST Singers were featured in the Christmas Choral Concert held at San Sebastian Church, Science City of Munoz. This coming September and October 2018, they will be featured at the 5th Angeles Choral Festival performing the works of Maestro Arnel De Pano and 1st Northern Philippines Choral Festival featuring the works of Maestro Dr. Bienvenido Constantino Jr.

They were also featured in different cultural events held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Folk Arts Theatre, Senate of the Philippines, and Paco Park Presents. With their equipped talents, the group produced three National Awardees in Vocal Solo (First Place in 2004 and 2007) sponsored by the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA). They have placed the Central Luzon State University on top position by winning the top prize in the 2002 Literary Musical First National Finals and in the Regional Choral Competition after having declared CHAMPION for four consecutive years in the Development Council for State Universities and Colleges (DCSUC) Literary Musical Festival from 1999-2003 (Regional Level).
