Vagina -

The vagina is a key anatomical structure in the female reproductive system, essential for FMGE, NEET PG, and USMLE exams 🩺.
This muscular, tubular organ extends from the cervix of the uterus to the external genitalia, measuring approximately 7-10 cm in length.
It functions as the birth canal, a conduit for menstrual flow, and the site of sexual intercourse. The vaginal walls are composed of three layers: the inner mucosa with rugae, which allow stretching; the muscularis layer, which provides strength and elasticity; and the outer adventitia.

The vaginal environment is maintained at a slightly acidic pH by the presence of lactobacilli, protecting against infections. Blood supply is primarily from the vaginal and uterine arteries, with venous drainage through the vaginal venous plexus. Understanding the anatomy of the vagina is crucial for diagnosing and treating conditions such as infections, prolapse, and cancers 🎗️.
