How could I resist? First thing in the morning on the day of release I was in my local record shop: Raves From The Grave, buying two copies of The Cure's brand new album: Songs of a Lost World. The 'standard' black bio vinyl LP release, mastered and cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road, and the 'Retail Exclusive', 'mastered by Brian Lucey and Bernie Grundman', pressed on grey marbled bio vinyl, both at Pallas GmbH.
Which one to buy? I just had to get them both.
I've hardly stopped listening all week, to both versions and the 24/96 stream on Qobuz. It's a phenomenal album, It's dense, distorted, dark and dirty, not your typical audiophile fodder.
