Gordon, Lee Chun Lok

Widely regarded as one of the foremost harmonicists in the world, Gordon Lee is a graduate of the Education University of Hong Kong
with a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Arts and Culture, majoring in Music.

In 2017, Gordon was the champion of the World Harmonica Festival, the highest level of harmonica competition in the world. He was invited to perform at the Carnegie Hall in New York, Muth Concert Hall in Vienna, Esplanade in Singapore, International Harmonica Festival in Seoul Korea and World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen Germany. He has performed Spivakovsky’s Concerto for Harmonica and Farnon’s Prelude and Dance for Harmonica and Orchestra.

In addition, Gordon has collaborated with singers including Alan Tam, Alfred Hui, Chet Lam, Hacken Lee, Hins Cheung, Phil Lam, Ng Yip Kwan, Leon Lai, Lowell Lo, Teresa Carpio, Kay Tse, and so on, as soloist in live concerts and recorded television programs, albums and DVDs. Recently, he also appeared in Hunan Television’s 2016 reality show 'I Am a Singer' as a guest soloist.

Gordon studied Chromatic Harmonica under Vienna Chromatic Harmonica Soloist Franz Chmel and studied Diatonic Harmonica under two-time Grammy Award Winner Howard Levy. In Hong Kong, he studied performing techniques under Sheng Soloist Cheng Tak-wai.

Gordon has been widely praised by the local media, with one exclaiming “His performance overthrew our prescriptive knowledge of the instrument and the traditional way it was played.” Excellent credit is given to the new 2018 CD named Gordon Lee and his Encore Trio by the renowned harmonicist, Gordon who integrates the greatness of Classical Music, World Music, Jazz, Blues and Pop Music.

Gordon is teaching at the Hong Kong University. With the aim of nurturing harmonica playing talents in Asia, Gordon founded the Hong Kong Harmonica Academy in 2015. In 2016, he was a member of the adjudicatory board and guest concerto soloist of the 11th Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival in Taiwan. In 2017, he was a member of the adjudicatory board and guest concerto soloist of the Taiwan Harmonica Music Competition and hold the” Modern Harmonica Technique” seminar.
