In this episode, I visit Steirereck, the country’s most celebrated restaurant and its newest recipient of three Michelin stars. Set inside the stunning Stadtpark, Steirereck blends modern Austrian cuisine with visionary techniques and impeccable seasonal produce, a true reflection of chef Heinz Reitbauer’s culinary philosophy.

The menu? A journey through bold and hyper-seasonal flavours: veal tongue, eel, oyster mushrooms, fennel, kid goat, bitter orange, rhubarb, and even caviar with lentils and bacon. This was a distinctive and very Austrian take on three-star dining, elegant but grounded, and unexpected but precise.
