About This Process: We start at the receiving bay, where live mealworms arrive in clean plastic crates and are gently separated from their feed substrate on vibrating stainless steel screens. The insects move into controlled fasting rooms for gut cleaning before being humanely frozen in powerful blast freezers. After optional washing and blanching, the mealworms are loaded onto trays for drying.
Once dried, the crisp insects travel along enclosed conveyors into hammer mills that grind them into ultra-fine insect protein powder. The powder flows through sealed hoppers into automated weigh-fill machines that form pouches, flush them with nitrogen, and seal them for freshness.
