Описание к видео मन्जुश्री उधान | MANJUSHREE PARK : A Cultural Landmark in Kathmandu

Manjushree Park is a peaceful public park in Chobhar, Kathmandu, Nepal. It is named after Manjushree, a Buddhist saint who is said to have created the Kathmandu Valley by cutting a gorge and draining the ancient lake that once occupied the area. The park offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and landscapes.
The Park is situated approximately 8 kilometers southwest of Kathmandu city center and is easily accessible by road. The park is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city and attracts both locals and tourists alike. It is a popular spot for picnics, family outings, and nature walks.
History
The history of Manjushree Park in Nepal is closely tied to the legend of Manjushree, the Buddhist saint after whom the park is named. According to the legend, Kathmandu Valley was once a vast lake known as Nagdaha. It is believed that Manjushree, a bodhisattva and a disciple of Buddha, saw a lotus flower floating on the lake and had a vision. Inspired by this vision, he decided to cut a gorge at a place called Chobhar, allowing the lake’s water to drain out and making the valley habitable.
The creation of the gorge by Manjushree is considered a significant event in the history of the Kathmandu Valley, as it transformed the landscape and allowed the valley to become an inhabitable area. As a tribute to Manjushree’s contribution, the park was established and named after him.
Manjushree Park itself was developed in recent times as a public recreational space. It was designed to provide a peaceful retreat for locals and visitors, offering them a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. The park was carefully landscaped with greenery, trees, and open spaces, creating an inviting environment for picnics, leisurely walks, and various outdoor activities.
The statue of Manjushree himself is one of the significant attractions within the park. The figure, located at the hilltop, depicts Manjushree holding a sword in his right hand, symbolizing his legendary act of cutting through the gorge. It serves as a visual representation of the legend and a reminder of the park’s connection to the creation of the Kathmandu Valley.
Manjushree Cave: You will have the opportunity to visit the Manjushree Cave, which is believed to be the spot where the Buddhist deity Manjushree meditated. The cave is adorned with religious symbols and offers a serene atmosphere for reflection and contemplation.
