The W&OD Trail — runs 45 miles through northern Virginia.
In this video, I bike the 25 miles from downtown Herndon to downtown Purcellville, which has the trail markers from mile 20 to mile 44.5
This bike trail was originally a train line (the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad) which operated from 1859-1968. It was eventually converted to a biking and hiking trail, beginning in 1974.

Typically there are mile post signs every half mile on the W&OD bike trail. Below I show the time on this video where I encountered some sample mile signs — and other landmarks on the trail. (As I passed the mile posts, I tried to call out which sign I was reaching.)
