Namibia, a land of stark desert landscapes and captivating natural beauty, is home to one of its most iconic and mesmerizing destinations: Sossusvlei. Tucked away in the heart of the Namib Desert, Sossusvlei is a place of awe-inspiring dunes, ancient clay pans, and a sense of timelessness that captivates all who venture here.
Sossusvlei is a salt and clay pan surrounded by high red dunes, located in the southern part of the Namib Desert, in the Namib-Naukluft National Park.
Your journey of discovery will take to:
Dune 45 - the most famous and photographed dune is 170 meters high and the climb is well worth the effort as from the top you will be spoilt with the incredible panoramic view of Dune Valley.
Big Daddy Dune - the tallest dune in Sossusvlei - 325 meters and from the top you can walk down to the Deadvlei.
Deadvlei - at the heart of Sossusvlei lies the iconic Deadvlei, a surreal clay pan characterized by dark, dead camel thorn trees contrasted against the white pan floor and clear blue sky. The trees are estimated to be approximately 900 years old, however they have not decomposed due to the dry climate.
This incredible landscape is a paradise for photographers.
The video also shows the impressive Desert Grace Lodge which is a great option to stay near Sossusvlei.
