Ahead of his film’s Hulu debut, Eenie Meanie writer-director Shawn Simmons chats with Collider’s Steve Weintraub about his feature directorial debut.

In the action-comedy, Samara Weaving plays a reformed teenage getaway driver, Edie. Unfortunately, believing she’s moved on from her colorful past, Edie is dragged back into the fold when her irresponsible ex, John (Karl Glusman), finds himself in some hot water with a formidable group of people. To pay back his debts, Edie will have to jump back into the driver’s seat. Eenie Meanie also stars Andy Garcia, Steve Zahn, Jermaine Fowler, Marshawn Lynch, and Randall Park.

During this conversation, Simmons discusses his king status in Brockton, Massachusetts, and shares memories from the city’s hot spots, and having creative freedom to tell the story he wanted to tell with the film. He also explores the relationship of his two main characters, why writing the two of them was so challenging, and the movie magic behind crafting epic car chases on dime.
