All our young lives we search for someone to love. Someone who makes us complete. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope. All the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, there’s someone perfect, who might be searching for us.” - The Wonder Years
Figuring out the who with pieces scattered all over the places, unrealistic inspirations from my favourite TV shows, some realistic inspirations from stories of some of my friends and family, it’s a question nobody really knows the answer for until one seemingly very ordinary evening they find themselves two hours into the longest phone call of their life.
“Shaadi kar len fir?” I asked.
“Kar lete hain :)” said Nishu.
I didn’t know if anyone could bring all those scattered pieces of inspiration together, at least the ones important to me, and be able to make anything even remotely resembling a future where I’m in it.
And Nishu took that as a challenge. Nishu is kind, and passionate, she loves with an open heart, she is a little too innocent for the world at times and she always cares. Makes me wish the world had more people like her.
Fortunately I just needed the one. And I found her :)
Almost three months of figuring out our future, the relationship we want to build and the values we want to build them on, a few cups of tea, an extra large ice-cream, countless hours of classic introvert chit-chat and some unexpectedly long phone calls later, here we are.
[Nishu responds with a heartfelt poem]
In your eyes, I find a gentle light,
A love so pure, so kind, and bright.
With every smile, my heart you steal,
Your humble grace, forever I feel.
Cute as the moon, and humble as can be,
You're everything that means the world to me.
Through every day, in every way,
I promise beside you I will stay.
For in your heart, I've found my place,
With your love, my world you grace.
So on this day, I make it clear,
Forever with you, my Mahaveer.
