Thousands of residents in parts of Yangon were filmed trying to escape the area after martial law was imposed.

Footage shows gridlocked roads as residents attempted to escape the violence which has resulted in the death of more than 30 protesters over the weekend.

Protesters reportedly removed the makeshift barriers originally intended to slow down the military to allow people through.

More than 180 people have been killed in Myanmar since the coup on February 1.
