Our home in Aveyron, France

This is our little house in Aveyron. We moved here 10 years ago. This video includes an old video taken after we'd been here for about 8 weeks and gives you some idea of the condition the 'house' was in. (apologies for the picture quality - I lightened it so that you could see more of the inside as that was like a cave!) It hadn't been lived in for about 50 years and had more recently been used as a carpenter's workshop. The ground floor was earth and rocks and had been used to keep pigs in. There was no staircase or upper floor, but it did have a new roof! (We would never had bought it without the new roof. ) There was no water, electricity, telephone or gas. We had just had a telephone and water connected when this video was taken. It was also the first time we'd had a fire in our old stove which we found in the barn and then re-built.
