✅ Before Using Mounjaro

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription-only medicine for weight management and type 2 diabetes.

Do not use if you are allergic to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients.

Speak to your doctor before use if you have: severe stomach problems, pancreatitis, kidney/liver disease, thyroid issues, or a personal/family history of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC).

This medicine is not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Do not share your pen with others, even if the needle is changed.

🧊 Storage

Keep refrigerated (2°C–8°C).

Do not freeze. If frozen, do not use.

Can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 21 days.

Keep in the original carton to protect from light.

💉 How to Inject Mounjaro

Choose the site

Recommended injection sites:

Front of thighs

Abdomen (at least 5 cm away from the belly button)

Upper arm (only if someone else gives you the injection)

Rotate injection sites each week. Do not inject into the same spot repeatedly.

Prepare

Wash your hands.

Check the pen label to make sure it’s the correct dose.

Inspect solution: it should be clear, colourless, and free of particles.

Do not use if it is cloudy, coloured, or contains particles.

Inject

Remove the base cap.

Place the clear base flat and firmly against your skin.

Unlock the pen.

Press and hold the purple injection button until you hear a click.

Keep holding it against the skin until you hear a second click (5–10 seconds).

The grey plunger will be visible when the dose is delivered.

After

Remove pen and dispose of it safely in a sharps container.

Each pen is single-use only. Do not reuse.

⏰ When to Use

Mounjaro is injected once weekly, at any time of day, with or without food.

If you miss a dose:

Take it as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours).

If more than 4 days have passed, skip and take your next dose on the scheduled day.

Do not take two doses within 3 days of each other.

⚠️ Possible Side Effects

Very common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain.

Common: injection site reactions, tiredness, reduced appetite, belching, reflux.

Serious (rare): pancreatitis (severe stomach pain radiating to the back), allergic reaction, kidney problems, severe dehydration.

Stop the medicine and seek urgent medical help if you have symptoms of:

Severe abdominal pain (pancreatitis)

Shortness of breath, swelling, rapid weight gain (heart failure)

Lump in the neck, difficulty swallowing, hoarseness (thyroid tumour signs)

🚫 Do Not Use If:

You are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

You are under 18 years of age.

You have a personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
