A Danny Boy WR, something that no one expected this year, including me.
Every MKW player dreams about wanting a WR ever since they started playing. My passion for a WR started after Lawrence's First WR on KC, a 2:10.809. At the time, I was shocked that he was able to get a WR, as I never thought of him as a WR Player, but that got me thinking, "If Lawrence can get a WR, why couldn't I?" This was the start of my WR Journey.
My passion for RR started back in January, before the shooting star method. I knew Logan's 2:10.051 wasn't the best it could be so I thought if I grinded hard enough, I could get it. I would try some quacker attempts, but nothing happened. Then came Justin with the ODB method. When I found this out, I instantly started playing. I wanted to be the first to make it. I spent 3 weeks on this with no idea what I was doing. After Justin's time, I decided to just give up on WR and just focus on making glitch. I ended up getting a 2:02.780, which was 9th WW at the time if I recall correctly
At the beginning of April, I decided to come back to RR for 1:59/3rd WW. I fluked a 1:59 fail two days in, and for the next 2 weeks I got nothing. I started looking into different alignments I could try, and eventually found one I was consistent with. After about a day, I had gotten a 1:59.483, 4th WW at the same time. Not the 3rd WW I wanted, but still very happy with it.
At this point, I had two choices, go to another track or continue. I continued for WR. I learned one shroom, got consistent at driving, and just got confidence overall, over late April and all of May I grinded for WR. By June, Vincent had gotten a 1:55.9. This completely destroyed me as I had thought I couldn't get WR anymore. After about a day of feeling sorry for myself, I decided I did have one more chance for WR, with 2/3.
My 2/3 grind started June 4th, and I got 19 one shrooms in total, or 38 2/3 attempts. My confident was at an all time high, but I knew I shouldn't expect any until about 80 2/3 attempts. I was completely wrong. During my WR Session, I wasn't expecting anything, I had made a glitch 30 mins before, and the 2/3 attempts were ok. When I made the first glitch in the run, I expected nothing, but when I clipped the second time and landed, in my head I went "Already??". Nerves didn't kick in until before Lap 3 cannon. I decided to not go for anything risky, including regular mj. When I finished the run and saw a 1:24, I was in completely shock. I was not expecting anything under 1:27.
This run will always have a special place in my heart. It's my First WR, I made massive history with it, and I proved to myself I am capable of these types of things. While I deserve to have the WR, I did NOT deserve for this run to be the WR. But I'm still grateful for it.
Lastly, I want to thank the entire MKW Community, especially the TT scene for all the support over the past 2 years. I would've never gotten this far without yall, you guys made this game fun :))
