About this video: If you are looking for how to make a modded Minecraft in 1.21.5, this is the video for you. We show you exactly how to setup a Minecraft server with mods in 1.21.5. This will let you play Minecraft with mods using a NeoForge server. NeoForge is one of the most popular Minecraft 1.21.5 mod loaders, but if you would rather use Fabric or Forge mods on your server, there are links to both of these guides in the description above.
To get started, we will need to download the NeoForge installer for 1.21.5. There is a link in the description above to download Fabric. That will take you to our complete guide on getting NeoForge for 1.21.5. This will show you how to get NeoForge locally. That is import because anyone who is going to join your modded MInecraft server in 1.21.5 will need to have NeoForge and any mods you install on the server installed locally.
On our NeoForge guide, click the “Download NeoForge” button to go to the official 1.21.5 NeoForge download page. There, click on “Download Installer” and the NeoForge installer will start downloading.
Next, create a “Modded Minecraft Server 1.21.5” folder on your desktop. Then, find the NeoForge Installer file you downloaded. Right-click on it, select Open With and Java. If you don’t have Java you can download it from the link in the description above.
With the NeoForge Installer open, first click “Install Client” and click proceed. This will install NeoForge locally. Once that is complete, reopen the NeoForge Installer, and click on “Install Server”. Click the three dots next to directory, and select your Modded Minecraft Server 1.21.5 and click Proceed. Your modded Minecraft server files will now download and install.
After you have the modded 1.21.5 server files download, we will want to open the modded server folder. In this folder, there will be a run.bat file. Double-click the run.bat file, and your modded Minecraft 1.21.5 server will attempt to start. It will fail though.
However, there will be a new eula.txt file. Open this with notepad and change “eula=false” to “eula=true”, assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA. Save the eula.txt file, and double-click the run.bat file again. Your Minecraft modded server for 1.21.5 will now start.
At this point, you are hosting a modded Minecraft server. However, you are the only person who can join your server. You will need to port forward for your friends to be able to join.
There is a link in the description above to our complete guide on how to port forward for a modded Minecraft server. The quick version is that you will need to port forward the port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. Once you do that, your friends can join using your public IP.
To add mods to your 1.21.5 modded Minecraft server, just download 1.21.5 NeoForge mods from Modrinth or CurseForge, both linked above, and add them to the “mods” folder on the server. You and anyone else who joins your server will also need to install the mods locally for them to work.
With that, you now know how to make a modded Minecraft server for 1.21.5. If you have any questions about how to host a modded Minecraft server in 1.21.5, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out. Thanks for watching!
