Running the Tongariro Northern Circuit - a New Zealand "Great Walk"

Описание к видео Running the Tongariro Northern Circuit - a New Zealand "Great Walk"

Mount Ngauruhoe, new Zealand’s most active volcano, and featured as Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings films, stands as a perfectly shaped volcanic cone located within the Tongariro National Park. Located about an hour and a half south of Taupo on New Zealand’s north island, The Tongariro Northern Circuit beckons hikers and runners with adventurous 28 mile loop around the volcano. The circuit encompasses diverse landscapes, such as volcanic craters, alpine meadows, and ancient lava flow.

A week after my adventure on the Milford Track (check that out here:    • (not HD) Running the Milford Track - ...  ), I set out to run another of New Zealand's great walks. I had originally planned for the Tongariro Northern Circuit to be my third, but I caught a bit of a cold and had to skip on the Keppler Track (a reason to go back!).
