Bregenz lies on the shores of Lake Constance (German: Bodensee) in Austria (German: Österreich). It is the capital of Vorarlberg.
My film begins at Bregenz railway station. The Intercity train from Zurich in Switzerland to Munich in German stops here. The station is not far away from the lower old town of Bregenz.
The Vorarlberg Museum at Kornmarktplatz is the art and cultural museum of the federal state (Bundesland) of Voralberg.
The Vorarlberger Landestheater was established in 1945.
The Kunsthaus Bregenz (KUB) was designed by Peter Zumthor. The building is an example of architectural minimalism.
In the video you can see the pedestrian zone in Rathausstraße and Kaiserstraße in lower town of Bregenz.
The upper town (Oberstadt) of Bregenz is not so busy like the lower town. You will see many medieval buildings but not so many shops and restaurants.
Martinsturm (Martin’s Tower) in the upper town is one of the main sights of Bregenz. There is a museum in the tower. From the window gallery in the upper floor you can enjoy a panorama over Bregenz, Lake Constance and Pfänder.
Bregenz is famous for the summer music festival – Bregenzer Festspiele. The floating lake stage (Seebühne) is the largest in the world. The Festival House (Festspielhaus) is a congress and events center.
From april to october you can travel on a passenger ship on Lake Constance. There are lines to Lindau and Constance in Germany.
