It is a plateau covered with thick forest. Located in the Pat region of Chota Nagpur Plateau, Netarhat plateau is about 4 miles (6.4 km) long and 2.5 miles (4.0 km) broad. It consists of crystalline rocks and has a summit capped with sandstone trap or laterite. Region of Netarhat is covered with Pine and Pear trees who are planted by Forest Department and forests mostly have Sal, Kendu, Mahua and Eucalyptus. The highest point is 3,696 feet (1,127 m).

We have covered the Journey of Netarhat from Ranchi by bike. We got the beautiful view of jungle, mountain & clouds, as we have covered this journey in the 1st week of October where the rainy season was about to end.
In our way we have crossed Koyal river and after that 22 kms valley to reach Netarhat.
We have found Forest Guest House in Netarhat very attractive which is very well maintained by the Government, Forest Guest house is need to book from Lohardaga.
We stayed in beautiful Tent and done camping in netarhat. Because of rainfall we have missed the sunset in Netarhat. But the in the morning we have found the best thing in Netarhat - Sunrise in Netarhat from behind the clouds and mountains.
We have visited koyel view point which is also a best point to see sunrise.
Went to upper Ghaghri fall but missed Lower Ghaghri fall.
Mousammi Garden is also very popular in Netarhat.
