Nothing promising in Russia-Ukraine discussions, says Kremlin | Ukraine News | NewsRme

On Wednesday, the Kremlin downplayed the prospect of a breakthrough in the Ukraine-Russia peace negotiations that had taken place in Istanbul the previous day.
He went on to say that Moscow saw the fact that Kyiv had begun putting down its requests in paper as a "positive."
Vladimir Medinsky, Moscow's chief negotiator, hailed Monday's negotiations in Istanbul as "important."


Russia's military operations near Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and the city of Chernigiv would be greatly reduced, a defense official at the talks said.



Despite Moscow's denials, Ukrainian officials say Russian soldiers bombed Chernigiv in the north on Wednesday.
"We are delighted with the progress we have made," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Chinese official channel CGTN.
