After a two-decade long battle against the opioid crisis, it is time for society to consider tapping the potential of previously unused resources. In her talk, high school junior Neha Skandan emphasizes the power of teenagers to help friends and family members struggling with opioid use disorders through the importance of reshaping conversation. Neha has met with physicians, community outreach program leaders, and other experts dedicated to combating the opioid crisis. She has written articles in both English and Spanish to raise awareness and empower teenagers to join the fight against the opioid epidemic. Neha Skandan is a junior at Moravian Academy High School. She has been pursuing a research project to reshape the conversation around the opioid epidemic. She is a student reporter for the Bethlehem Press, and has written a feature piece to spread awareness on the opioid crisis.

Neha is the president of Moravian Academy’s debate club and has represented the school at the national level since freshman year. She is a trained classical Indian dancer who recently completed her debut solo performance at the Zoellner Arts Center. She was also featured in the PBS39 Spanish-language Es Tiempo Lehigh Valley program.
