DRISS Presents TEACH-RS is an interactive, monthly lunchtime seminar (via Zoom) to learn about dissemination and implementation research and recruitment science!

Seminar Description:
In this presentation, Dr. Pecanac and Rasaki Emmanuel will discuss their experience with a Community Advisory Board (CAB), including recruiting participants, designing meetings, discussing data, sharing findings, and moving towards next steps.

Speakers:
Kristen Pecanac, PhD, RN, is Associate Professor, Helen Denne Schulte Professor of Nursing in the School of Nursing at UW-Madison. Her research explores interactions among health care practitioners, patients, and family members when making decisions related to treatment in the hospital setting. Her intent is to identify communicative practices that promote patient and family participation in decision-making and incorporate these practices into an intervention. The ultimate goal of this research is to facilitate engagement in productive conversations that will lead to reduced stress and suffering for patients and their family members.

Rasaki Emmanuel has been a dedicated advisor on the Goodman Community Advisors for Research Design and Strategies (CARDS) Group for 13 years. CARDS members share actionable, candid, and valuable feedback on research project plans and public-facing materials to make them easier to read, more engaging, and more inclusive. Rasaki is appreciated within the CARDS group for his creativity and his gentle way of helping researchers see new perspectives. He is also a devoted father and husband.
