You don't have to take out the whole metal sheet to replace the whole unit. Get the door panel off, unscrew the 3 bolts holding the mirror, unscrew the speaker, unclip the wiring component, and pull out the old mirror. Bolt the new mirror in but feed the fire through the hole and plug it into the clip behind the speaker. Reverse the steps and you should be alright.
