Why is it important to understand the concept of diversity? Because how we think about it influences how we feel about it. And how we feel about diversity ultimately has an impact on what we do or don’t do about it. This offers us the possibility to open the door to better understand how we are similar to and different from those we are interacting with and, as a result, communicate more effectively with them.

The topic of diversity is one that I’ve been formally teaching for more than a decade now. And after working with thousands of professionals and students from all over the world, from all different types of backgrounds, I’ve organized a model to explain this important, big and sometimes nebulous thing called diversity.

In this LinkedIn Live event, I explain diversity using a metaphor of an avocado (that's what I call it) and define it by a 3 layers model. By the end of the session, we will have the knowledge to recognize elements of each layer in ourselves and in others.
