How to Use the Rug Doctor Hand Tool Attachment.

To clean stairs, furniture, vehicle upholstery, stubborn carpet stains and more, we have an optional hand tool attachment.

This connects into the back of the Rug Doctor machine by disconnecting the larger vacuum hose by wiggling from side to side. Then, pulling up upwards, attach the grey cuff from handle to the grey cuff on the machine. Then screw the smaller hose onto the brass connection by pushing inwards as you screw in tightly.

Mix the Rug Doctor upholstery cleaner solution with water and a clean bucket according to the label directions on the bottle. Remove the upper white tank and pour into the lower red tank through the filter screen. Plug power cord in and turn the machine to 'hand tool on'.

Working at a steady pace begin cleaning by squeezing hand tool lever as you pull the tool over the fabric overlap strokes slightly and if necessary, repeat stroke without squeezing the lever to extract any excess water.
When cleaning vertically, use the hand tool in an upwards motion. When cleaning is complete, empty any remaining solution by holding the hand tool over a sink and squeezing the lever until the water stops running out. Then turn the machine off.

With all switches off, disconnect hand tool hoses and securely reconnect vacuum hose at the back of the machine. To release any remaining solution in the hand tool, squeeze the trigger and water will drain out the other end.
