Instruction List (IL) is a programming language used in programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems to write control logic. It's a low-level textual language that consists of a series of mnemonic codes representing specific instructions that the PLC can execute. IL is often used in conjunction with ladder logic, another popular PLC programming language.

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Instruction List is not deprecated. It's still used in many industrial settings for PLC programming. However, it's worth noting that in recent years, there has been a trend towards using more graphical and user-friendly programming languages like ladder logic, function block diagram (FBD), structured text (ST), and sequential function chart (SFC). These languages offer a more intuitive way to express control logic, especially for those who are not necessarily experienced programmers.

While IL might not be as widely used as it once was, it still has its place, particularly for programmers who are comfortable with its syntax and for situations where precise control over the execution of instructions is required.

It's important to keep in mind that developments and trends in industrial automation programming languages can vary over time. If there have been any changes or deprecations since my last update, I recommend checking the latest documentation from relevant PLC manufacturers or industry sources to get the most accurate and up-to-date information.
