1st time filmed at Bridgend on the South Wales Main Line plus being the junction of the Maesteg Line services to Maesteg and terminus of Transport For Wales services via Rhoose (Cardiff International Airport) on the Vale of Glamorgan Line.

Bridgend first opened in June 1850 designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel with the original pedestrian footbridge dating from 1877 now Grade II Listed.

Although there are 4 platforms with 2 through and 2 bay platforms with Platform 3 rarely used these days.

Platform 1a is the terminate for services via Rhoose on the Vale Line from Aberdare or Merthyr Tydfil which was controversially axed in the 1960s by Dr Beeching however reopened in 2005 at the same time that Platform 1a was opened.

A new footbridge with Lifts was built in 2012 although the most recent development was the main station building dates from an overhaul in 2018. Although Great Western Railway serves here however only 1 train per hour from London Paddington to Swansea or some cases Carmarthen or Pembroke Dock with services now provided by Class 800 and 802 IETs.

The station is also the junction for the Maesteg Line for services to Maesteg which is single line only diverge here towards Wildmill.
