Lotus Combo is a deck named after its crucial card — Lotus Field. Which we're looking to pair with Thespian's Stage to copy the Lotus Field. Once we have a pair of Lotus lands, we use effects such as Hidden Strings and Pore Over the Pages to create mana.

Eventually, we cast either Wish for Peer into the Abyss which draws most of our deck. Now we have enough resources to cast Wish again for Sheoldred, the Apocalypse from Dominaria United (DMU). The plan at this point is to cast Peer into the Abyss targeting the OPPONENT, which draws the opponent cards causing the Sheoldred to trigger to win the game.

Wish allows Lotus Field Combo to have additional access to more copies of Lotus Field at the cost of a sideboard slot, which is very big game. But at what cost? We do draw our copies of Lotus Field less often, but we also lose access to Emergent Ultimatum. You might be wondering, "why?"

It's not super obvious, but the reason is that the Emergent Ultimatum builds are based around Omniscience. With how Wish is worded, the cards never go to your hand (Channel also doesn't work with Wish), meaning you cannot cast these spells in your sideboard for free. Instead, we're opting to run more copies of Baral, Chief of Compliance.
