Residents of Worthington are expressing concerns over a new deer management program set to begin in January, which involves sharpshooters targeting deer in residential neighborhoods. The city has identified 27 locations where professional marks people from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will conduct the culling, but residents have not been informed of specific times or addresses, only that operations will occur after dark.

Amelia Shearer, a Worthington resident, voiced her fears, saying, "I am afraid that there is a tragedy waiting to happen."

Shearer, who moved to the area for its wildlife, is now worried about the safety of her family and neighbors.

"There was never an assumption that it would be less than 200 feet from your back window or your sleeping child," she said.
