As we increasingly rely on computers to manage and support our everyday lives, our vulnerability to cyberattacks grows. Now, hackers can not only steal our credit card information and view private conversations, but also potentially cause us physical harm. The Stuxnet “worm” was the first cyber weapon in history to reveal just how dangerous the digital world is. It targeted Iranian computers that ran machines used to turn uranium into nuclear fuel and made them explode. Protecting the global network of data and its storage poses new challenges for Cybersecurity with far reaching physical consequences.
