remind me again why being human isn't everyone's favorite show?
i love it as much as i love torchwood: they're kind of complimentary in a way, dont you think?
tw: humans struggling against the foreign and the alien
bh: supernatural creatures struggling to fit in and be accepted

anyways, the video is centred around mitchell but it kinda wants to cover the main theme of the show
which basically revolves around the definition of 'humanity' in the first place and its opposite, 'inhumanity', 'bestiality'
what makes you human?

is it your body, your human form? what happens if you're injured and forced to turn into a wolf once a month? into a beast, able to hurt the one you love at any minute given? can you still call yourself human?

is it your morality? what happens if the thirst for blood clouds your reason and drive your action till you're no longer in control? can i still trust you to share with me the basic moral rules?

what does it mean to be human, and to be alive? are you really living your life or are you living through other people's? are you a ghost? someone that can't be seen or heard or touched, someone that can't really have a life and start defining themselves by what they do for other people
and what happens when that's not enough anymore and those people you trusted betray you. where do you find your worth then?

i just LOVE how this show is able to get to you by showing the shared life of a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost trying so hard to fit in while they're so irremediably marked by their differences
the circumstances of life forced them to be outsiders, cast away and feared and despised: they can't find acceptance. are the 'real' human really better than them after all?
("they're only human? and then it's our mistake wanting to be like them!")

and yet they keep fighting to hold on to that little piece of normality they have left (and fail)
they just want to live their lives and be happy
