A descending chromatic line works
it’s way through a sequence of chords
first as the upper voice and then as the lower.

This Etude is somewhat similar to chromatic lines in
J.S. Bach's "Musical Offering".
Please give it a listen if you are as yet
unfamiliar with that great work.

This etude helps attune our ears to chromatic
motion and the possibilities offered by becoming familiar
with inversions in the bass.
