Last spring I bought some blackberry bushes, a mulberry tree an English walnut and two hazelnut trees. I wasn't sure where I wanted to plant them so we put them in some Global buckets for the summer. The Finger Lakes super Hardy filbert hazelnut tree had hardly any roots on it at all.

So this is what the roots looked like in the spring. They were very fine and not too many of them and this is what the roots look like a couple weeks ago when we planted the trees in the ground. You can see them growing through the drain holes in the bottom of a five-gallon bucket there and here it islaying on the ground you can see all the roots wrapped around the bottom of the bucket. He is the tree after we planted it, you can see it had hardly any upper growth but boy it sure put out roots.
