Point Pelee National Park is Canada’s southernmost national park, famous for its marshes, bird migrations, and unique position at the tip of mainland Canada. Its wetlands are rich in biodiversity. Point Pelee is considered one of the Top 100 Birding Sites in the World, with over 390 species recorded.

Point Pelee is the southernmost point of mainland Canada, and is located on a foundation of glacial sand, silt and gravel that bites into Lake Erie.The Tip marks the southernmost point of mainland Canada. Established in 1918, Point Pelee was the first national park in Canada to be established for conservation.

Marshes cover most of the park, with boardwalks and observation towers. It’s both a natural sanctuary and a cultural landmark, named Pointe Pelée (“bald point”) by French explorers for its treeless tip. Despite its small size, it’s one of Canada’s most ecologically diverse parks, offering marshes, forests, and beaches in one compact area. Marsh boardwalks help visitors explore the wetlands up close.
