This waterfall is situated on the B482 road on the right side if you travel from Bulathkohupitiya junction. Of course it is a remote and difficult place to reach. But the road travels through very beautiful scenic landscapes, rubber plantations and valleys. Once you reach a wooden bridge, which belongs to the colonial era and is said to be the oldest wooden bridge to date in Sri Lanka, on the right side stands this 200m tall beauty. Having many levels, the rumbling smoky white waters run down the bridge.
I travelled with my family and my 2 year old kid who is really fond of waterfalls. We opted out going uphill to get closer to the major falls, which is accessible through a narrow staircase on your right side when you stand looking at the falls. We climbed down few minutes through a path that lead to another bridge and smoothly flowing river with flat rocks on the bank to sitand relax and shallow crystal clear waters with depth less than a meter to take a bath. But beware of flash floods. There is a house nearby. You can get their advice too before jumping in. The center of the river was fast and furious. So just stay close to the bank where the water was running in smooth currents, crystal clear with pebble filled bottom visible and very chilling! We enjoyed a chilling bath with our little one and responsibly had our meals too.
