Jewish Genealogy in the Ottoman Empire

Описание к видео Jewish Genealogy in the Ottoman Empire

The vast Ottoman Empire was home to a variety of Jewish communities. In this Sephardic World meeting Michael Waas discussed available resources for genealogical research of Jewish families in that vast territory that at one point reached the gates of Vienna. Michael discussed how to access resources, and what results you can expect to find. He illustrated the talk with a couple of case studies from his own family. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session.

Our friend Michael Waas, M.A., is the co-founder of Hollander-Waas Jewish Heritage Services, a Jewish heritage and genealogy research firm. He also volunteers his time as the anthropologist and historian of the Avotaynu Genetic Census of the Jewish People Project.
