Sales storytelling is one of the 'highest leverage' skills you can learn in SaaS sales and technology sales. Here's an example that illustrates the power of sales storytelling:

The complete biography of YOU is a book that, I’m sure, you’d snatch from my hands (and maybe break off a finger or two in the process).

Your buyers are the same way.

One of the best pieces of sales advice I ever received was this:

“When you can articulate your buyer’s pain better than they can, they will automatically trust you and assume you have the right solution.”

In other words: If you can tell a story that they “see themselves in” - one that feels like a page out of their personal journal - you’ve won the deal before it really begins.

It should feel like you are peering into their soul (a phrase I’ve had more than one buyer say to me after our first sales call together).

When your buyers feel understood that that level… they throw money. Because you (and your company) understand them so well. That’s an unconscious signal to them that you are their ‘savior,’ so to speak.
Easier said than done, right?

So how do you create that feeling in a customer?

The best technique I know (which borderlines on ethical mind-reading), is called The Discovery Prompter. It will show you how to tell a narrative that your buyer can see themselves in so clearly… that they happily open up to you.
