Dahmane El Harrachi - Ya Rayah (Algerian Song) (Arabic/English lyrics)

Dahmane El Harrachi (7 July 1626 - 31 August 1980, Algiers), is a cheikh of châabi, a traditional Algerian music very popular in Algeria. He is one of the biggest Algerian singers. His song "Ya Rayah" is an emblematic classic, one of the most known around the world, especially due to the remix made by Rachid Taha, an other major singer of Algerian music.

If Algeria was a song, it would definitely be this one. It is a complex country where people are partaged between leaving for a better life and staying for the love of their country, for their identity.
