sublime way to take in the sights is on an ultra-luxurious Scenic river cruise.

Starting in Porto, Livinia’s 11 day cruise on Scenic Azure headed east towards Spain through picturesque scenery to some of Portugal’s hidden treasures.
Travelling from the port village of Pocinho, Livinia visited Coa Valley Archaeological Park on a Scenic Freechoice activity. In 1991 while constructing a dam, workers came across ancient rock art which
ultimately led to the abandonment of the dam project, and the creation of a huge archaeological site.
Guided tours in all-terrain vehicles take in the main sights, with the whole park home to more than 80 ancient rock art sites, including engravings and paintings. Sitting gracefully on a cliff outcrop, the modern museum integrates with the surrounding scenery. Inside, recreations and genuine artifacts from paleolithic times are on display giving visitors an idea of what life was like in 22000 BC.
Back on board Scenic Azure, there was time to soak up the European summer with a BBQ on the sun deck, before heading out for the afternoon’s adventure. At any time guests can opt to stay on the ship and relax in the lounge, soak in the vitality pool or hang out in the comfort of their own balcony suite.
Livinia couldn’t resist the chance to wander through the charming streets of Provensende, to peruse the quaint village markets and visit the ornate parish church. At one of the town's oldest manor houses, Casa da Calcada, Livinia was invited inside for a look around and to share some food with, of
course, a glass of local port wine. Saúde!
