So who can answer all these questions about the meaning of life, where we come from, where we are going? And who gives the right answers? Those issues has occupied my mind a great deal. I read books about the topics, and have made many inner journeys with "technologies of the sacred" such as experiential psychology, shamanism, yoga and meditation. As young I spend nights in nature to get some answers, when many of my friends where going to parties,.

To keep on track for now I'll tell you what really blew my mind as a young seeker. It was some books of the czech/american Dr Stanislav Grof. He had for decades used powerful techniques to induce non-ordinary states of consciousness. His stories and results spellbound me as they revealed a whole new worldview.

Later Stanislav Grof found a new term for these non-ordinary states of consciousness, or more specific, a subcategory of these states for which he coined a new term holotropic. The composite word means literally "oriented toward wholeness" (from the Greek holos means whole and trepein means moving towards or in direction of something). These are states that novice shamans experience during their initiatory crises and later induce in their clients. Ancient and native cultures have used these states in rites de passage and in their healing ceremonies. They were described by mystics of all ages and initiates in the ancient mysteries of death and rebirth. Procedures inducing these states were also developed in the context of the great religions of the world - Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Islam and Christianity.

My inner and outer journeys has over the years changed my worldview radically. I grew up in a materialistic oriented worldview where the Universe where depicted as a Newtonian super-machine. Now I experience that we live in an infinitely complex virtual reality created and permeated by higher intelligence, Absolute Consciousness and the Universal Mind. Life is a magnificent adventure with unlimited possibilities for games to play.
