🔍 Episode Overview:
On June 1, 2023, at about 10:44 PM, Patrolman Harry Moore from the Magnolia Police Department got a call about a car crash on White Horse Pike, near Evesham Avenue. He saw a 2016 Kia Optima had hit a 2021 Toyota Highlander. The Kia driver, Alexa, said the light turned green, and she bumped the car ahead. But the heavy front damage and leaking fluids told a different story. Officers figured she sped up way too fast on impact.

Sergeant James Swan showed up soon to help. While talking to Alexa, the officers smelled alcohol. They spotted other signs she might be impaired. She said she came from a friend's house. And she owned up to drinking wine that night. Suspicious, they asked her to do sobriety tests.

Patrolman Moore began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. He noted no smooth eye tracking. There was clear shaking at full turn, and it started before 45 degrees. Next came the One Leg Stand. Alexa didn't lift her foot right. She dropped it too soon. They tried the Walk and Turn last. But they stopped it early for safety.

The crash, her alcohol admission, and poor test performance led Patrolman Moore to arrest Alexa for DUI. They held her car for 12 hours under John's Law. He took her to the station for more steps.

Officers read her the standard statement for drivers. She agreed to breath tests. The Alcotest showed 0.21% blood alcohol—over twice the 0.08% limit. Her husband picked her up after signing the liability form. He waited for her court date. Patrolman Moore gave her tickets for DUI and careless driving.

Court papers show that on August 8, 2023, Alexa pled guilty to both charges. She got an ignition lock for three months. Plus 12 hours at a drunk driver class. And she paid $880 in fines.
