Vasil Samardzhiev - 2024 Australian Youth Delegate Statement to the United Nations

"The ability of our international community to enact meaningful change is dependent on the future generations trusting that we can."

On October 4th, Vasil Samardzhiev delivered Australia's National Statement to the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, during the "Social Development" session.

The statement called for:
⭐greater international collaboration,
⭐increased visibility of UN efforts, and
⭐the incorporation of youth-led initiatives into global strategies.

The National Statement of the Third Committee is an opportunity for Australia to address important social development questions and showcase the perspectives of groups who are commonly marginalised in society.

The speech is the culmination of 9 months of coordination of Australia's largest annual youth consultation program. After reaching over 2,000 young Australians this year alongside our Youth Representative, Gavin, the statement was an opportunity to share a glimpse into their complex perspectives.
